【摘要】:1.1Thispracticedescribesaprocedurefordevelopingprecautionarylabelsforceramicartmaterialsandprovideshazardandprecautionarystatementsbaseduponknowledgethatexistsinthescientificandmedicalcommunities.Thispracticeconcernsthosechronicadversehealthhazardsknowntobeassociatedwithaproductorproductcomponent(s),whenthecomponent(s)ispresentinaphysicalform,volume,orconcentrationthatintheopinionofatoxicologisthasthepotentialtoproduceachronicadversehealtheffect(s).1.2Thispracticeisintendedtoapplyexclusivelytoceramicartmaterialswhicharepackagedinsizesintendedforusebyartistsorcraftspeople,eitherindividually,orinasmallgrouporclass.1.3Thispracticeappliestodevelopingprecautionarylabelingforceramicartmaterialsintendedforadultusage.Conformancetothispracticedoesnotimplythatceramicartmaterialswillnecessarilybelabeledadequatelyorsafeforusebychildren.Labelingdeterminationsshouldconsiderreasonablyforeseeableuseormisusebychildrenandincludeasappropriate,insuchinstances,warningstokeepoutofreach,orotherspecificprecautionarystatements.Theresponsibilityforprecautionarylabelingrestswiththeceramicproducerorrepackagerwhomarketsthematerialforartorcraftuse.1.4Thispracticedoesnotspecifytestmethodsfordeterminingwhetherasubstanceorproductpresentschronicadversehealthhazards.1.5Thispracticedoesnotapplytoproductsappropriatelylabeledforknownchronicadversehealthhazardsaccordingtochemicalsubstanceslabelingstandardsandpractices,suchasanothernationalconsensusstandard,existinglabelingstatutes,regulations,orguidelines.1.6Sinceknowledgeaboutchronicadversehealthhazardsisincompleteandwarningcannotcoverallusesofanyproduct,itisnotpossibleforprecautionarylabelingtoassurecompletelysafeuseofanartproduct.1.7Manufacturersorrepackagersmaywishtodetermineindividuallyorcollectivelyprecautionarylabelingforceramicartmaterialsinaccordancewiththispractice.Compliancemaybecertifiedbyacertifyingorganization.GuidelinesforacertifyingorganizationaregiveninAppendixX1.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
